Measuring and Ordering Macrame Ring Lace - Please scroll down the page for all info.

  • Measure your window width (for hanging inside the window frame), or the rod width (if you are hanging them outside the window frame). Width is side to side.
  • Multiply this by 1.5 to get your curtain width. If you are ordering for more than one window, make a list of your windows by their window measurements with your curtain widths.
  • Select your Pattern and Ring Lace Drop Length - This is the measurement from top to bottom, tip to tip. The longest length is 24" and drop lengths vary by pattern.
  • For each Pattern, Drop Length and Color that you chose, add up all the inches and divide by 12 to get the total feet needed. Round up to the nearest foot. This total is what you will order.
  • If you want us to cut to your window widths - tell us on the order form. Your window widths should total to the feet you ordered, plus rounding.
  • There are no returns on cut Macrame Ring Lace. We will be happy to assist you.

More Tips
  • Measurements for Macrame Ring Lace can vary, from bolt to bolt. The drop lengths vary from design to design. These are fixed lengths. You will be purchasing width, priced by the foot.
  • Macrame Ring Lace is made in France and other parts of Europe. It is made on a bolt and cut to fit your windows. Ours is made on antique looms.
  • The rings will "take up" curtain width as they are threaded from front to back on the rod.
  • The larger diameter the rod is, the more take up there is. Our 1.5 times the rod width guideline has proven very satisfactory over the last 20 years. Too full, and you will not see the pattern.
  • Rods should be 3/4" diameter or less to fit through the rings.
  • There must be an even number of rings on each curtain. Threading from front to back, an even number will make both sides turn slightly to the back. An odd number of rings will leave one side turned to the back and the other side turning to the front.
  • We have discovered that the cut edges are very sturdy and if washed on a gentle cycle and hung to dry, or hand washed and laid flat to dry, they will be fine. There is a product for sealing knits - one brand name is Fray Check - which can be found in most Notions sections, that can be applied to the edges, if desired.
  • Macrame ring lace can be cut with sharp scissors. We will be happy to do this for you. Please make sure you tell us the Curtain Widths for cutting, not rod widths, on the order form.
  • For longer lengths - see our Macrame with Sheers - custom made for your windows.
  • Swatches are available at no charge.
